Skipping through my email a few weeks back, I came across a newsletter on environmental sustainability. The header read "Stump Love". With a bashful curiosity, I opened the newsletter and decided to give it a read. For the next few minutes, I was entertained, educated, and inspired by a tale of true natural wonder. What was shared was a tale of a stump in the wilderness that was discovered encapsulated in the roots of the trees around it. Reported as a very rare find, this stump and been brought back to life by the nourishment of the roots feeding life from their own lifelines, their roots. In reflection, this true natural wonder brought my attention to the power of community support. How powerful is it that a stump, with little left to grow from, was seen by its tree-mates as in need of a community and came back to life. It seemed as though the healthy trees were sacrificing themselves to support this one stump.

So where are your trees? Have you built a community of people or resources around you to be able to revive yourself from time to time? Sometimes we just need another branch to lean on and other times we need someone to completely step in. Consider your current needs, who or what is around you, and begin to build more solid roots in the community for yourself.
