Kids between the ages of 8-18 spend over 7hrs of their time on a screen. That’s an increase of 2.5 hours in the last 10 years. What are we using our screens for? Many are struggling with depression, anxiety, obesity, difficulty concentrating, and difficulty with relationships. Just like anything else in life, you wouldn’t let your kids work out for 8 hours/day because it’s just not healthy. They won’t set the boundaries themselves, you have to. Model healthy screen behaviors and put the device down. Check-in with yourself as well, screens are highly addictive. Have a screen-free weekend. Ask how technology benefits you and how you want it incorporated with your family.
